Well, it's almost here. My 100th post. I promised that'd I'd hold a contest by way of a celebration, and I will. Tomorrow's the big day, so be sure to stop back and see how you can win a fabulous prize. Well, to be honest, it might not be fabulous, but it is a prize, so it's all good.
We were blessed by amazing weather here in Maine this past weekend. Friday was sunny and warm; Saturday was sunny and warmer (around 80) and Sunday was warm, cloudy but the rain held off until after nightfall. It's amazing how much the weather can affect my mood. Somehow even the difficult things seem a little less horrible when Mother Nature shines on me.
I did notice that there is a lot to be done outside in the way of spring clean-up. I live on a major road, so all the trash that people toss out of their vehicles all winter blows into my front yard, where it hides until the snow melts. Time to put on the rubber gloves and pretend I'm working on the chain gang (I'm all about the role-play, baby.)
There are trees downed in wind storms to be cleaned away, fencing to be repaired, gardens to tend. We're going to need a stretch of the clear weather to get it all done, but what satisfying work it is. Unlike some other things I'm doing in my life, this work shows. I can see a stack of brush waiting for a burn permit, a pile of trash bags, an intact fence line. Some of the other things I'm working on don't really reveal a visible result or a satisfied feeling. I guess, all things considered, I'm glad I have some physically demanding tasks on my to-do list.
I did notice how there are a bunch of muscles that one uses for spring clean-up that one evidently doesn't use for anything else. Yikes. I'm making little noises when I move. Still, it kind of feels bad in a good way, if you know what I mean.
Hope you all had a nice weekend, and please stop by tomorrow to celebrate 100 posts and enter my celebratory contest!

I'm using my spring clean-up muscles too, and boy do they hurt like a bastard
In a good way of course
I will be back to check out the big 100! : )
I know what you mean about the great weather changing your mood. The two days we had some actual sunshine I was singing and doing the spring clean up thing here. I'm still paying for it pain wise. Those muscles, ow...that come out only for spring cleaning!
Happy pre-100th post!
We got to 90 degrees here in PA! How fabulous was that! John and I spent the afternon at our favorite park (Peace Valley Park) and we watched the kayakers, a couple of sailboats and a wind surfer. It was glorious!
We had rain all weekend! BG was totally bummed.
Woo-hoo! I'll be back to check out your 100th post.
Can't believe you've already reached 100!! You go girl.
Can't wait to see what the contest is....
i did yard work this weekend too, I see 4 bags of dog poo waiting at the curb...
On Friday, we were nearly 90 degrees, which is unheard of in Iowa in April, so rather than do productive things outside - because my yard is a mess after the winter - I spent it outside with friends and my sons, thinking the weekend would be perfect for catching up on tasks. Mother Nature, though, has had other thoughts since Friday, and has rained on us virtually nonstop since. We're a soggy mess now. I hate yard work, but I'm ready for the rain to stop so I can get out and pick up!
I am always in denial about how weather-dependent my moods are until I see the dramatic difference a little sun makes.
Doing the spring clean-up here, too.
Oh yeah... the Spring Warrior gets even sorer than the Weekend Warrior! Ah but a nice yard and gardens are their own reward.
I know what you mean about feeling the 'good' pain. I just want to get better so's I can...
Are you going to do 100 things about you and your life? I'm still working on the last 20. Dang, I wish I didn't take a challenge quite so seriously.
As to the lacrosse padding... The try to protect the bony parts, such as collarbones and shoulder bones. I guess if you did research on lacrosse injuries, the major ones are where they try to protect to minimize injury stats.

Congrats on the milestone! How exciting!!
I love Spring and Spring Cleaning is actually alot of fun for me. It's the only type of cleaning I enjoy. :)
I played softball yesterday for the first time since I was about 18.
Yeah, big ouch.
Not sure when my body got so old.
Hope you took some time to sit in the sun and soak it in!
Have you actually been counting the posts? As a relative newbie, I often wonder how people know when they hit a milestone.
Yeah, I not only used muscles I haven't used before during this heatwave outside, but apparently there are muscles that I need that I must not even have.
We had a great weekend; our weather was absolutely beautiful!
I love using my spring clean up muscles. Hopefully they won't give up on me as I have more to do.
If there is one thing that really pisses me off about our country, it's how some people think you can just throw your trash out the window and it will be gone. Or, if there garbage gets blown over, they don't go pick it up. That is so freaking rude!
And girl, I know about those sore muscles. It takes days to get over that!
