Last night I managed to get out to dinner with 'the girls' and it was wonderful, as it always is. These are friends I've known for thirty years (which seems impossible), I love them unconditionally and I think they feel the same about me. We talked and laughed, and I had some kick-ass Shrimp Portofino. I really needed to get out of the house. It was good for my soul, and the leftovers will be an awesome lunch today.
Yesterday I gave a little shout out to a couple of my commenters, and then I was thinking about the whole blog comment thing. I love to read my comments. They are often more witty, more funny and more insightful that my actual blog. I probably shouldn't point that out, or you'll stop reading my blog! But, if it weren't for this blog, those particular comments wouldn't be there for you to read...well, you get the picture.
The advice I get is usually spot-on, and many times I've had things pointed out to me that I hadn't thought about quite that way before. I especially love it when a little 'discussion' breaks out between two or more of the commenters. Gosh, that truly amuses me. As a giant extravert, being home alone, as I am so much right now, really bites. Daily contact with you through your own blogs and your comments here is a real delight. Thanks for being the smart, funny, caring people that you are.

I needed that too. The food was great but the company was even better. I always feel like you both get me - but still like me anyway. :)
My only question is - how has it been 30 years? It is clear that we have only aged a few years since our college days.
I think we all love comments, but I don't feel like mine are ever very witty. Of course, I feel that way about my blog, too.
me...so good to hear you were able to enjoy a girls-nite. I know for me, it's THE best therapy.
Make it a good weekend!

I am so glad you got out and had a good time despite illness and Mother Nature!
Thank you for your SUPER sweet comment the other day! I blushed when you gushed!
I have been working my ass (I wish) off so I havent been commenting as much as I have been visiting.
UGH about the BM letters. That is so friggin frustrating!
I think I need one of those girls night out deals. Being surrounded by boys and doing boy things for far too long (I mean, this week feels like a month!!). Glad you had a good time and found it renewing!
Okay, for today's blog, I'll be discussing good vs evil in the God Father series.
Let's begin...
So who are these witty people...I need some laughs, head on over :-)
I love the blog world. Although no one in my real life knows about my blog so I feel like I am living a double life and I have to keep it all straight :-)
we love you to ME and are glad you decided to blog!
I enjoy reading your blog, even though I can't hop over here everyday! Glad you had a great time with the girls lastnight - we all need that once in a while.
Mmmm...Shrimp Portofino! Details, please. I'm so glad you were able to make it to your girls' get-together last night. I know what you mean...I get to the point where I need to see people so bad that I would get there, even if it had to be via snowshoes!
Aren't comments just so darn much fun? That's why I blog even when I don't have anything to say; total and complete comment whore here. I admit it! "Under the Influence" may not think she's witty, but I'll bet the people she comments to feel differently! Although I did not start out in the blogging world thinking about getting comments--I thought it would be the same as a paper and pen journal, just quicker--it has become my "fun with friends" place. I don't care if someone just stops by and says "hi"--I love it! And I also love to comment back, as is evidenced by the fact that, many times, I am a comment hog and write mini-novels. Interaction between bloggers via comments is GREAT--and Andrew Scott Turner is a great facilitator of the interaction. Makes me laugh SO much! And because I love nothing more than to share my opinion, I will always insert myself into the conversational mix. BWAHAHAHAHA!
In closing? You have a great blog AND great comment pages, Mary Ellen. I LOVE it here. And also...there was evil in The Godfather series? Where? :)
I discovered your blog recently, and have spent some time "catching up". It is a wonderful read, and you have a terrific "voice".
I hope to enjoy it frequently, if not daily.

I;m not ver witty either, but I like to comment anyaway! :)
I am so glad that you got out alright last night! Your food choice is making me hungry! :)
By the way, NOW would have been a good day to visit the child detention center we call Tee's House Child Care...
And bring your leftovers
tee hee
I think we all feel the exact same way you do. That's why I love blogging so much!
I loooove to go out with the girls. Even better when they pay! hehe There is something therapeutic about chatting over dinner, lazing back over a movie or having a cuppa.
I miss those days when I'm busy, snowed in or just plain lazy. Women understand....
Just getting out is great therapy, but getting out for dinner, with great friends...so much better! Glad you got to do that, (thanks Mother Nature for giving ME a break!)
Love your blog you have some great posts here!
Glad that you made it through wind, sleet, snow and rain to get out with your girlfriends! Was one of them the one in the story about the Health Center? I have retold that story to a few people because it cracked me up so much!
Good luck to your boys this weekend!
M.E. I am so glad you got to go out and have a good time. It really is great for the soul.
I love reading the comments on my blog too, they usually make me smile..
Comments is what makes blogging fun! I know I say I blog for myself, but really people who comment on what I write make my day. It wouldn't be the same without the comments. And sometimes, what they say sparks a whole new blog topic/discussion. Such a cool circle!
