A couple of people asked me if I worked on Fragments all week, or if they all just came to me when I sat down to blog. The truth is that it’s a little bit of both. I have a word document saved on my computer where I jot down random thoughts that occur to me during the week. Then, when I actually go to write my Friday post, I use the notes I’ve made, and usually add one or two things that I think of while I’m writing. If you like it, check out Mrs. 4444 over at Half Past Kissin' Time. She's the hostess of this shin-dig, she's a blast, and her Favorite Fragmenter Award this week went to a friend of mine!
* It’s raining. Again. Pouring, actually. What’s with the weird weather pattern up here in the northeast? We had two 90-plus degree days in May – practically unheard of up here. Now, it’s the middle of June, and we’re lucky to get up to 58 degrees during the day. I’m ready for sun and warmth. I want to take my coffee out on the deck in the morning. I want to be able to stop wearing socks.
* I’m sorry that I disappointed some of you who assumed I had the lead role in the play! I am on the production crew, not on the stage. I have been assisting the director, and am now stage manager. We had our first run-through with lights, sound and costumes last night, and it was fun. The coolest part? I get to wear a head set so I can talk to the tech guys. And I kind of get to be the backstage boss. Not that I like to boss people around. Much.
* I was signing up to join the bone marrow registry this week, and reminded again of the fact that, as an adopted person, I’m a bit different. One of the question groups includes questions about where your ancestors were born. Well, Bone Marrow People, I can pretty much rule out Asia, Africa and Egypt, but beyond that, I can’t help you. If you really need to know which country in Europe my great great great grandfather came from, maybe my bone marrow is not for you. On the other hand, how often do you get volunteer bone marrow donors who could be related to practically anyone? (See there? Making lemonade again.)
* Maybe it’s the crappy weather and the fact that I’m exhausted, but lately it seems like there is an abundance of people and things who exist simply to bug me. I’ve started making a list – I know, I can’t help myself – and I’ll probably make them their own post, but I wanted to share one with you today: The new McDonald’s commercial for their crappy coffee drinks. (By the way, McD’s, saying CAFÉ doesn’t mean you are one.) This is the one where they show people commuting without any coffee, and they’re miserable and the announcer says “COMMUTE.” Then they show the same guy commuting with his overpriced McDonalds coffee knockoff and the announcer says “COMMUTE-TAY.” Okay, first of all, I hate people who put accent marks on random words for no reason. Everybody? It’s only cute when I do it. More importantly, nobody is going to believe that that ridiculously skinny woman (who wouldn’t be so skinny if she really drank that high-calorie swill every day) would actually get a seat on her overcrowded shuttle just by drinking a stupid sissy coffee and saying “SHUTTLE-AY.” You McD’s marketing guys need to shut up. You’re bothering me.

M.E., glad you're back. And back with a vengeance! This was very funny. Loved the caffay critiqe!
A good stage manager is critical to a production, and I'm impressed that you've taken on the task. I hope you have a wonderful show. Break a Leg!
Oh! someone else who hates that stupid McDonald's commercial!
OMG we started our FF with the same thing. The shitty weather!
We're spending too much time together.
Are you having your period too?!?
It is the crappy weather, best to say it is and not start me off on commercials.
The stage manager is MUNDO important. Once the show opens, the stage manager RUNS the show! You take over now that the director's job is done. Having been a SM before... I even had to kick a director out of "my" backstage area because he was a total negative influence on the actors...
And I said the same thing about those stupid McD's commercials the other day. Maybe I'd like them better if the product was actually any good... like the Burger King Iced Mocha Joe... I would happily add "-king" to everything or "-joe" to everything when drinking one because it's just that damn good that it really does make the mundane more interesting. Traffic-king. Hmmm... that didn't work the way I thought it would. Sofa-king. Oh wait- SNL already used that joke. I guess I need to work on that one a little more.
Yeah, that commercial has the same effect on me. Cool sayings are only cool when they happen naturally. (However, I do love the "Give me back that filet o' fish" song.) Guess they are hit or miss. And bring back the old McDonald's gas station-type cappuccino anyway; I like me some fake cappuccino.
BTW, your FF intros are always so wonderful. Thanks.
We have only had one or two days of really nice weather here in OH, which is weird. We have only been to the pool ONCE! It's cloudy and in the 60's today - I WANT SUMMER!
again ME when time allows come south! lol its hot again, we need some rain! we hate the mc d's commercials but i catch martha singing the two all beef patties, special sauce pickles onions lettuce thing often LOL
mmmm, lemonade...AY!
Farmie's been telling me that I should try McDonald's instead of Starbucks, but at Starbucks I can somewhat control the sugar intake. I doubt they have the option of only 1 pump of vanilla at McDonalds!
Every time I even have a half formed (formed, I said, not baked) thought about getting TV again, I read about some ridiculous advertisement ans think to myself,"whew, that was a narrow escape!"
Honestly, even though I'm constantly complaining that its hot, it really hasn't been all that hot here in OK yet; I think low 90's is as bad as it's been. But jeeze the humidity! I need to wear a sweatband like I'm a basketball player from the 80's or whatever.
I like the way you do the random posts; I might have to try that! They'd never be as good as yours though!
Haha - I haven't seen that commercial, but it just SOUNDS annoying!! But then again, I hate everything about McDonalds (except Grimace - I always thought he was pretty cute... but do they even still have him around?).
I'm not adopted, but several of my ancestors were, so our family history gets pretty confusing. I just can't even begin to imagine a good reason for why the bone marrow people would even care about your family origin. How odd!
ba ha ha ha ha Oh man that's the greatest critique of McDonald's commercial ever! I love it!
I feel you on the weather though, we're having the craptastic weather up here in good ol Quebec too. Seriously I thought that I moved AWAY from the rain and cold in Vancouver. Apparently I just brought it with me. I never knew I had such power! :)
I love it when you're sassy..;p
Hope you have a super weekend!
♥ HUGS ♥
Ok, I am not adopted and I couldn't answer that question. And I am sure if I asked my mom it might be a guess, lol.
You freekin' crack me up! I wish we lived next door so when I feel postal (like almost every day I come home from work) I could come over for a cup of coffee with a heavy splash of Kahlua... or we could drive through Mcdonalds for a McCafe and pull a David Letterman stunt!
Hey ME,
Just caught up on like 12 posts of yours. June is a little too busy for my blogging addiction. Why do teachers cram all the BIG projects and field trips into the last 2 weeks of school? Seriously, we have nothing to do in January and February!
And, yes, along with Maine, I am still wearing fleece on Cape Cod even though I have tried to pack away the heaviest of it 3 times!
I love the cards that you made and the questions people asked!
I am so excited for your opening night! It will be great and you will be filled with such pride! Yeah, and so will Andy! BTW, smart boy Andy, dragging ME into your play!
Glad that you are feeling better from your virus!
HI, ME....Thanks for asking about my son's illness.
As it turned out, after 3 tests, it was NOT mono. They weren't sure what it was, but all I know is that he puked for 11 days and nights STRAIGHT!! We were in the ER twice to have him rehydrated with IV's. NOTHING helped him. I never saw him so ill. He lost almost 20 pounds. I had to take 6 days off from work just to be with him, and take him for various tests. He's gone 5 days now without vomiting and is eating again. He's not 100 percent, but soooooo much better. It was frightening. They still think it was a mono type of virus that was a very, very bad one. I guess!! (by the way, the hospital REFUSED to give him a swine flu test, even tho I practically begged....still don't understand that one.) Hope you are feeling better !!
Those commercials are right up there with gratuitous quote marks and using k instead of c [Kountry Kitchen] and calling a store in East Jesus, USA a Shoppe!
Hi There! That is cool that you are into theater. I was a stage manager once in a play in college. I was also IN the play so I had to move boxes around the stage in between scenes in my costume (which was a very long black dress), LOL!
I can not believe the crazy weather we are all having. Last month in May we had the hottest May in vegas ever. This month we are barely in the high 80's, unheard of for June. We are usually cruising around the century mark. Weird.
I hate those McDonald's commercials too! The worst is the car washing one.
look at this way without the production people the great lead role players would not look as good as they do
