Same Old Song

I don't think I can stand it one more minute. I'm at the end of my rope, on my last nerve, and at the edge, ready to jump. I want to kill somebody. Or at least to maim somebody. I want to scream at the top of my lungs, stamp my feet and break something.

What has driven me to this point? The weather. Rain, to be specific. It is STILL RAINING. The weather guy says it has rained 16 out of the last 18 days. I think he's lying. I don't remember any un-rainy days.

I was planning to write a fun post today, but I can't think of anything funny. Rain has permeated my house, my life, my body and my brain. It's like a headache; you know how, when you have a really bad headache, nothing else matters? You can't think about anything else, no matter how hard you try? Well, this is how I feel about the rain.

I'm watching my tomato plants literally rot and die. I'm dealing with a leaky roof and a flooded basement. I'm powerless to stop the dogs from turning the kennel into a mud pit. In my head it's becoming symbolic of my overall disastrous life, and that's the part that scares me.

I know there are worse problems in the world - heck, I have worse problems, myself - but my soul needs some sun. Yesterday I could barely force myself to get out of bed, and today I'm on the couch with a blanket (is this progress?) in my dark, un-sunlit living room.

I did make a decision though, while I was typing this. I need to do something. Somewhere that the sun or rain doesn't matter. Something to take my mind off everything.

This girl? Needs a movie. And not from Netflix, either. I need a real movie-theater movie. A chick flick with a guaranteed honest-to-goodness, don't-care-if-it's-realistic, happy ending. Something completely unlike my life, in other words. Any suggestions? I wonder if there is such a film playing at the local theater. If there is, I'm there. It might get me through the day.

And tomorrow? They said the sun might show its face, but even if it doesn't, I have the show to look forward to, and that will make all the difference. There's no weather that can distract me from my gloriously hectic backstage spot - because, even though it's as hot as the fourth circle of hell, I still love it. And it doesn't rain there, even when the humidity approaches 100%. Actors and stage lights and audiences trump Mother Nature every time.

It's not a chick flick, and I haven't seen it myself, but I have heard that "Up" is the best.
It could make you smile for a while if nothing else!

Spend your time finding people to donate to my fundraiser. Seriosuly. I am now ONLY $75 away from the 50% point. Which, if I hit,I will be far less neurotic. Which means I will bug you less. Promise. Well, for a day or two.

When are we gonna hang out? I'll make you dinner!!

I have heard that "The Proposal" is a great chick flick. I don't have personal experience, however.

It didn't rain on June 13th - and I have the peeling skin to prove it as I got a "wicked" sunburn. Around here, it didn't rain on the 20th either. I was able to do my Relay for Life without a raincoat and Evan was in a double header without rain.

If it makes you feel better (because misery loves company), I have had a sucky week also.

Hang in there!

I'm IN, ME!!!
And, can't wait.
We will eat sour patch kids, and make fun of people. That is the best cure for the rainy day blues!!!

oh that much rain does in deed suck! You can come down here to Texas - we reached the hundred degree temp mark yesterday and today its supposed to be 101:)
Plenty of sunshine! Hope you get to go see a good movie!

Well um let's see... movies... chick flicks... ummmm, are those for kids or adults?

Chicks are baby birds, right? Well if that's the case, then my baby birds liked the movie "UP".

It's a bit of a tearjerker at times, so bring a tissue. Enjoy!

Get some snow caps, too. mmmmmm Chocolate with sprinkles always puts a smile on my face.

Then after, go to a tanning bed. People will ask you where you got your tan!

If all else fails, take a road trip to VT... it's sunny here, for now.

Gads, ME, let me join you. it's 10:57 AM and I am in my PJ's on the couch, after just waking up from a nap, cause I am soooo exhausted from checking the weather channel on TV and on the computer, lest I heard them wrong or something.
But noooo, I can see outside from here and it's, gulp, raining. Again.
It's not too bad, I just keep changing the plastic dish that keeps catching the drips from the ceiling on our summer porch and keep checking the cellar to make sure the sump pump is working.
Listen, I saw UP and to me, it was kinda
DOWN. Oh, it was good, but if you don't want to be depressed about getting old, don't bother. I plan on popping in Momma Mia later. Then, dagnabbit, I'm going to put on my raincoat and do some gardening, come hell or highwater.
Hang in there....summer IS coming, or so they say on weather.com. Don't know if I believe them.

Sounds like it's time for a vacation to the sunny south. Make sure you don't go during a hurricane, though.

I am so sorry everything bad has hit at once !

I know the feeling of what days and days of rain can do to you...how about the new Sandra Bullock movie, The Proposal ? Even if it's another bomb, it is a romantic comedy and has a happy ending, I think (I haven't seen it, she has had so many bombs in a row, I'm afraid to try another one)

BTW,
Some nice, fattening junk food at the movie would help you forget your troubles too ! LOL

We had a hellish mix of heat, humidity, and then a raging rainstorm that had us down in the basement clinging for our lives...until the power went out, causing the sump pump to shut down and the water to flow in. It was a long night! Now it's back to heat and I'm feeling trapped in the house. I could use a movie, too!

The proposal is out isn't it? Go see that! If it wasn't a 6+ hour dive I'd come with you! It looks cute and my friends all say that they love it.

I agree that rain sucks. :( See the Proposal it will make you feel better! :)

Hop on an airplane, fly down to OKC. I'll pick you up and share our sunshine and our 100 degree weather. I'd even put you up at the Red Dirt plantation, share my dogs with you so you won't be lost without a dog. I'll even clean the bathroom for you. I promise we have plenty of vitamin D to share with you.

Oh how I wish we could do a weather exchange for a few days...I'd gladly relinquish some of this hot, sweaty, miserable, heat-stroke kind of sunshine to you! Hang in there, go see the movie and then tell us if it's any good or not.

:)

I would go see The Proposal. It looked really good and will make you laugh as well as have the chick flick feeling. :)
