Stop the World

Does anybody else remember the musical "Stop the World, I Want to Get Off"? It's old (like me) and it had that song "What Kind of Fool Am I?" in it. Anyway, the point is that I'm feeling a little bit like that. Ever since I've been home, it feels like I've been going full speed, trying to get everything done, and not quite making it.

It has been a busy week, and somehow I'm so exhausted that I can't sit down for a minute without falling asleep. Add in the little bit of 'after the good time is over' letdown, and it's a recipe for disaster.

I did seven loads of laundry in the last two days, and there are still mounds to do. How can people wear so much clothing? People don't ever mention what a laundry-maker it is to have dogsledders in your household. Having dogs is a messy enterprise, and as the snow starts to melt, we are left with mud season. Delightful, I tell you, just delightful. I especially enjoy washing caked mud off stuff - clothes, floors, shoes, the inside of the shower.

I'm also so far behind on reading blogs, I don't know how I can catch up. I find myself wondering how you are, and what you've been up to while I've been unable to check in with your blogs. I hope I didn't miss anything amazing - well, I always hope that amazing things happen to you, but you know what I mean.

I've decided that I only have two goals for the weekend: Finish the laundry and catch up on my reading. That sounds do-able, right? Next week I am going to write to my birth mother again, so I may start brainstorming ideas for that letter. If anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears. Obviously, letter number one did not work, so this one has to be even better, more moving, more something. This one just HAS to make her want to call me. It just has to.

I'm right there with you. Griffin has a cold and is teething.

Need I say ANYTHING about LACK OF SLEEP?!?

As for your letter. Good idea. This woman MUST have a heart. She'll come 'round.

I can't imagine all the mud you must be dealing with! I am hoping to stay caught up on laundry. I finally caught up last weekend and I never want to get that far behind again...it was bad, lol!

With all the snow melting, doesn't the ground look lovely? That really nice turdy, mucky, rotting color.
I can't even imagine what the earth looks like in a dog's pen after the melt.
Just keep saying, Crap is Fertilizer, Crap is Fertilizer, Crap is Fertilizer. It is, isn't it?

Breathe....just breathe. Relax and take things one step at a time and they will all get done. Hang in there!

the one and ONLY thing That I stress over when I make my trip to missouri is getting so far behind on email and blogs... It took me two weeks last year to get caught up... I follow 60 some odd blogs now !!!!!! HOLY SHIT I will be so far behind!

Letter to your bio mother...Of course be honest and try to re assure her that you are not seeking to disrupt her life and maybe let her know that this is your last try (if it is your last) sometimes the lost opportunity is a motivator... I am feeling however that for what ever her reason she may never let you in. I do not nor will I ever understand how anyone can have a child and give it up and NOT want the chance to meet that child as an adult but thats just MY thought and feeling on the subject.
Of course my own bio mother makes even less sense than the average because HOW can any woman have a kid that she claims to have wanted, swears she searched for, then when reunited spent 8 YEARS getting to know her bio child and her family only to one day totally cut off all relationship and HATE that said adult and claim to have always hated her and never wanted to meet in the first place...
Anyway I could write a book and never answer one question or help with any solution because adoption stuff is as individual as all persons involved in it. and in my opinion it all sucks especially closed adoptions.
back to my corner I go ....
hugs

ME...somehow the laundry always gets done! As for the letter, I can't blame you for needing some sort of response. My prayers are lifted for you!

My son just came home from college for spring break and he brought with him a mountain of laundry...seriously it will be days before I see my floor again.

As for the letter, try sending 2-3 pictures of yourself or your kids when you/they were a baby or very little and tell her you understand her decision, but would really appreciate a little medical background...anything at all might be a foot in the door...maybe include a SASE to prompt a response, she may feel obligated to return the pictures to you and maybe she will include a note of some kind.

#1 teach the family to do their own laundry so they will know how and not expect you to do it always.
#2 Have you sent copies of pictures?

My momma made sure each of us 6 kids (3 boys, 3 girls) not only knew how to do the laundry, but also knew how to iron. Sure came in handy for all of us... And she made sure we all knew how to clean a bathroom and make a bed with hospital corners. That was back in the day before fitted sheets.

Call it basics of home economics 101. Now get on to your reading.

Helen

And, yes, especially after the last 3 days, I do want to stop the world... if only for a brief moment.

Every once in a while I feel like I am playing catch up, and this session has been going on since the beginning of the year. Guess it does not help that we have bene slammed with things to do every single weekend and have had no time to just chill. Also the house is suffering and laundry is ALWAYS there. So I understand completely!

And I have not been blogging as much as I would like so you have not missed anything. Although I did manage to get a post for Hallie's blog together. Should be premiering sometime this week.

I know everyone was being nice and telling you good things to write to your mother, but don't you feel like writing, "WTF? Why don't you want to meet me? I am a fantastic woman and if you don't write back I will unleash my dogs on your yard to do their business (all 60 of them!)"
Might not make her write back to you, but you might feel like you got something off your chest!
As you can see, I am a little behind on my reading too!

I am behind on laundry too, so don't feel bad. I actually feel behind on lots of things...

I too think it is a good idea that you write her again. Maybe she's nervous.
