Okay, I love a White Christmas, but...

Well, it turns out that the weather forecasters were right. We got DUMPED ON! Depending on where you live in the great state of Maine, you got between 14 and 24 inches of snow. At my house we seem to be right around 20 inches and it's 3 degrees Farenheit.

It's actually hard to tell how much snow we got because I live at the top of a very large hill (or a very small mountain) and the wind BLOWS here like you wouldn't believe. So instead of a nice, even 20 inches, we have spots with 3-4 inches and other spots with 4 foot drifts. My car is usually lucky enough to be in the 4 foot drift.

I'm not looking forward to getting out there to shovel my way back into civilization, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my Plow Guy (that's his official title, by the way) comes by before he goes to work, and not after. After he gets the driveways plowed, we have the deck, front steps, back steps, mailbox, dog yard and the path to clear. And, I hate to say it so early in the year, but I think we'd better get the roof shoveled off, too. I have no idea how to shovel without using my right arm, so we'll see how that goes. My oldest son is the only other one here right now, so he may be doing it all by himself. I think I'll let him sleep a bit longer before I break the news!

I can remember when I was a kid, I loved these giant, snowed-in for days storms. The idea of nobody being able to go anywhere, and snuggling all day in pajamas with books and games was a delight. These days, my first thought is, "I hope we don't lose power" followed almost immediately by, "I hope we don't lose our internet connection." Brandon and I did catch up on our Netflix DVD's (we're watching the first season of House) and had tea and hot chocolate, but I couldn't stop thinking about how much work it will be to dig out. I guess that's what growing up is all about. Note to self: put 'growing up' on my HATE IT list.

My only big goal for the day is to get the application forms for my birth certificate notarized somewhere, and find out whether I have to send them to the state now, or if I can just bring them with me on January 2nd. If I can, I'll snap some pictures of the pretty white stuff, and the digging out process, and post them here for you. I hope you all are safe and warm, and if you are in one of those states where it is 70 degrees, try not to gloat.

Well wishes coming your way for January 2. Hope your elbow is doing a bit better. I scrolled down to Hallies guest blog and giggled at the muppet video she posted. I love that one - pretty funny.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas

I'm so jealous! I WANT snow. All we have is gray 7 degree weather. Yuck.

I can't possibly shovel any more snow. It is only December and the snowbanks are taller than me!

Stay warm!

If I wanted to be snowed on I'd move to Maine. Here in Boston, we got about a foot. Cripes.

After tonights snowfall we will be at 16" I think. But it has come in 5" spurts, so other than the 5' drift in front of our garage, we have been lucky in the snow blowing!

Of course I dont do any of it, so even if we were buried I wouldn't worry - unless we had no power or internet. YIKES! My battery on my laptop only lasts so long and I dont see the battle of who gets to play games/watch movies on it would end in my favor!

GOOD LUCK!

Oh no! Netflix has House? I've been watching it for the first time recently while knitting. I'm putting the story together bit by bit jin spite of watching them out of order. He solves every mysterious disease at 10 minutes before the show's end!
Anyway, I hope you keep your heat and electricity. It would be awful to be cold! And be careful shovelling...
Merry Christmas!

I didn't leave the house today. The snow was a great excuse to stay in PJ's and putt around! Though the Hubster worked awfully hard.

When we would get those huge storms I would always wish I could stay inside and do nothing. But usually I would always have to go to work or run some vital errand. That is when I decided snow is not as much fun as an adult.

Hey you, remember me? Snow Central, Minnesota Division checking in. Today it was sunny, but colder than a witch's tit. The snow is supposed to start again tonight. YAY; I can't wait! Heh. Did you find your notary? Usually a bank, for sure. January 2 is coming up fast...I'm excited for you...

Thanks for checking in on my blog and I pray that all goes well with your search for your birth parents...I love the sub-heading of your blog...I know who I...etc. That is so cool !

As for snow, I have shoveled my fair share for a lifetime and now I prefer warmer climates and no snow at all !

I am sure the boy/boys were not thrilled to be shoveling. I hope you guys don't lose power or anything because that is a lot of snow.

HI!
Bring your notarized form and a copy of your current birth certificate, along with $10 on January 2nd! We'll be there at 8am with bells on! Try not to mail it. If you have, don't worry. They just didn't want to be inundated with paperwork before 01/02/09.
I cannot wait. Only 11 days away!
