A person who aims at nothing is sure to hit it

Well, I'm thrilled to learn from my comments that not only do you NOT think I am a stalker - several of you would do way more stalkerish things than I did by driving by the house on Tuesday. The whole search thing is making me crazy, so I've decided to give it a rest for a couple of days. Maybe this weekend I'll have Hallie help me make sense of all of the evidence. In the meantime, here's some random stuff rattling around in my brain.

I'm happy to report that I have now used all three of the fabulous new As-Seen-On-TV products that I received for Christmas. Since there was so much interest in whether they actually work or not, I will dedicate my weekend post to a review. I even took pictures of my initial attempt at the Pancake Puff Maker. I will spill all the secrets that Billy Mays and Sham Wow Guy don't tell you on TV.

Yesterday, we had a storm that started out as snow, and ended as snow. Unfortunately, in the middle it was sleet and freezing rain, and the roads are horrendous. I'm lucky enough to live on a fairly main road, but even on my street, the little traffic there is - is crawling. This concerns me because I need to go to the store; although, to be completely candid, I'm sure we could survive here on canned and frozen goods for a couple of months or more. I just don't WANT any of that stuff. The cats are also dangerously low on food, and there is nothing more annoying in this world than a hungry cat. Except 3 hungry cats.

Am I the only one who gets up at 5:30, even though I don't have anywhere to be, just to make sure my 16 year old gets up and on the school bus? I got him a new alarm clock for Christmas, but I don't really trust him to hear it and do what he's supposed to do. Plus, I've noticed that when he first gets up, before he has time to put on all that teenage boy bravado, he's kinda warm and fuzzy to his mom. Don't tell anybody.

Maybe, after I get Alex out the door, I should go back to bed. Except I am always completely awake by that time. Maybe I'll look at all my paperwork again, and perhaps this time it will all make sense. Or I'll get my afghan and lay on the couch and watch movies. Or I'll go online and update my resume for the billionth time and find the perfect job. Or I'll make myself some Omelette Puffs (yeah, you heard me) for breakfast.

Gosh, all of a sudden the day is filled with possibilities.

Why don't you hook up the dogs to the sleigh and take a "ride" to the grocery store on the ice?!

Truly give your brain a rest from your searching and clean out and organize a closet. I crazily like organizing closets, it's the rest of my house I have a problem with.....

I would definitely go back to bed - or at least veg out on the couch. 5:30 is TOO early! I am so not a morning person.

yes i am up every morning... how functional i am is debateable...
have you thought about having someone just call her and ask her if she is indeed your mother and to see if she is interested in meeting you? I would make that call for you in a heart beat...sometimes the best way is to just stand at the top of the hill and push... then let it roll.
it was really much better for me to have that mediator who did the initial contacting... and ice breaking... then I could have my nervous breakdown while knowing that they wanted to meet me ... anyway thought I'd make that offer for you to have as many options as possible.

ME...I like the idea of an afghan and a movie...good distraction!
Everything happens when and as it should. If you feel putting it on a back burner for now is what you need to do, then do it.
This is your chapter, write it as you wish.
I've got you in my prayers!

Hell if you're in town to get groceries, you could come a little further (farther?) and visit Tee's House Child Care and Walk-In Freezer

Wow Mary Ellen, I'm just now catching up and am still enthralled in y our journey. I do not believe you were stalking that house either! If you sit outside it for several hours with binoculars might be a different story though:)
I'm sure Hallisicle would LOVE to help you make charts and graphs galore!

I, too, am up at a silly hour of the day. Some days I do need to be, but there are those days I could conceivably sleep in, but no. I might miss something!
I like the sound of the afghan and couch with movies, not that I ever get there on the days I don't have to be up, but it's a really good idea!

here's what you do: get tha afghan, but instead of movies, just watch junkie TV all day: Regis and Kelly, Dr. Phil, Oprah, Ellen, soap operas... and it'f you're feeling feisty, throw some Maury in there and People's Court!

Well, all I can say is, by 5:30 I've already been at work a couple of hours **plays world's tiniest finger violin** :).

One more thing. WHO KNEW that all it would take to get her to stop bitching about and begging for a PRADA is offering her cookies. Silly us. **slaps head in 'coulda had a V8' fashion** So, quick! Make her the damn cookies!!!

BWAHAHAHA...

as for hungry cats, i am constantly running out of cat food so on those days my cat gets canned salmon, that I caught and canned myself, not the store kind. he's spoiled!!!

I have been trying to convince myself to get up at a reasonable hour all week, yet the best I can do is noon... I am so envious!

Ervin(my husband)has to get up before 5AM. And i get up every morning with him. Newlywed bliss I reckon. Anyway...I do go back to bed. And sleep. And then get up again at 7:15ish. I'm exhausted by the time I get to work.

Omlette puffs? Those sound devine.

I do not think you are stalkerish at all (I meant to say this in my last comment before I got all upset about not being able to come over to Hallie's house with you and organize) I believe you are in your right to be curious. Now me, I would have staked out the house, videotaped her coming and going, analyzed it against my mannerisms to see if I resemble her. THAT is stalkerish. You, your totally normal.
